About David Larsen

David Larsen graduated from Oral Roberts University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Literature and a minor in physics. It was during his time there that God began to give him a passion for the truth of Creation, both on the scientific level and in the Scriptures. As William Jennings Bryan once wrote,

“Real science is classified knowledge. Nothing, therefore, can be scientific that is not true. All truth is of God, whether found in the book of nature or in the Book of Books.”

Bryan went on to both state and demonstrate that the finds of science and the Word of God, condemn evolution. [Popular Science, Aug., 1923] As he put it, “If science is classified knowledge, then we are justified in rejecting as unscientific anything which is not established as true. On this ground evolution should be rejected.” Studies have indicated that possibly 90% of Christians now accept some aspect of evolution theory. God has instilled within David a passion to address this area of compromise within the Church and to see Christians return to a foundational belief in the complete veracity of the Word of God. He also desires to see the hold of evolutionary teachings over our schools and colleges broken.

It was in 1973 that David first became aware of, and interested in, the search for Noah’s Ark (though, in retrospect, he realized it was something God had planted deep within him long before this). Over the course of his studies he began to see Noah’s Ark as the “Rosetta Stone” of Scriptural interpretation with regard to the account of Creation and the Flood. In secular institutions the story of a global flood has been ridiculed as preposterous. Even in many Christian circles, the flood has been either mythologized or localized in an effort to make it more intellectually palatable. Other Christians continue to believe in the Biblical flood while blindly accepting “scientific” pronouncements that the world is billions of years old and that dinosaurs existed millions of years ago. And yet, these two positions are diametrically opposed and mutually exclusive. David’s studies and calling have led him to make eight trips to eastern Turkey—and he has climbed Mt.Ararat five times—in an effort to verify the remains of the Ark of Noah. He believes very strongly that God has sovereignly preserved the Ark for such a time as this—a day and age when people have rejected Scripture as the foundation of Truth and knowledge and put their faith in the pronouncements of man.

After matriculating at ORU, David spent two years as a graduate assistant in the physics department at the University of Arkansas. While there he taught Astronomy labs and was able to present many aspects of the truth of creation to his Astronomy students. Feeling led to attend seminary, he eventually moved to California and graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1982. Deciding against full-time “ministry,” he began teaching high school math and physics. He continually used his background and his passion for truth to present his students with science evidence in support of creation, and he began to see some of them led into a relationship with Jesus Christ. In 1992, while teaching at a Catholic Girls’ School in Southern California he was asked to review the science curriculum guidelines for The Archdiocese of Southern California. When he discovered that these guidelines presented evolution as an established fact of science, he began efforts to both address the committee responsible and to make changes. Not only were his efforts rebuffed, but he was then forbidden to even answer his students’ questions on Creation, and eventually fired for refusing to submit to such restrictive guidelines.

As part of that process he was informed that his teaching of the historicity of the Flood of Noah was no longer acceptable in the Catholic Church. The first eleven chapters of Genesis are now considered by the Catholic Church to be “myth” rather than history. This served only to deepen his commitment to see the truth re-established in the Church and in our schools.

Since that time, David has felt called into full-time ministry and was formally licensed as a pastor in February 1998. He continues to speak to high school and college students as well as to preach wherever and whenever God opens the door. In addition, he continues to be part of the ongoing effort to verify and document the existence of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."

~ Genesis 1:1-3
